    Frequently Asked Questions:

If I turn in a long-term assignment early, will I receive extra credit points? There are times when a student can earn extra points for turning in assignments early, however, this is not offered for ALL long-term assignments.  Students will be told ahead of time when extra credit is offered for the early completion of assignments.
Can I do extra credit to improve my grade? Extra credit opportunities in Language Arts are sometimes incorporated into various assignments/tests in order for all students to benefit.  Many times the students that ask to do extra credit to improve their grade are students who have not turned in all of their required work (and therefore have a lower grade).  If a student cannot complete required work, why should they be given extra work to do?
How many sentences should I have in a paragraph? This is always a question that comes up during writing sessions.  Although some teachers may require the traditional amount of 5 sentences per paragraph, I do not follow that same philosophy.  The phrase that I have been trying to get across to students when they write a paragraph is, "Quality is more important than quantity."  Please refer to the following researched document that explains the true meaning of a paragraph (What is a Paragraph?).
